Walking Together to
Change Lives in Botswana
We raise funds through community walks to support education and health
across our beautiful nation.
About us
Y-Care Charitable Trust is a unique Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) that solicits funds for other NGOs, Community Trusts, and Village Development Committees (VDCs) by hosting extraordinary sponsored walks in pristine areas of Botswana, with the Makgadikgadi Pans Walks being our flagship events.
Through these walks, we promote community engagement, personal endurance, and meaningful partnerships that drive sustainable impact.
Sponsoring
Let your Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) budget get you more value. Take part in our activities promoting wellness, encouraging team-building, experiencing one of the largest salt pans in the world and, most importantly; giving back to the community.
Participating
If you love walking and pushing your limits, join one of our carefully planned pre-walks ranging from 15km to 30km, or challenge yourself with our iconic Makgadigadi Pans Walks — the Day Walk of approximately 120km or the Midnight Walk of around 100km.
Volunteering
Be a part of a dynamic team of volunteers who have three (3) main things in common: their love for the outdoors, walking and their unwavering passion for community well-being.
Upcoming Events
Every Step Changes a Life
Join the Y Care community as we walk across the breathtaking landscapes of Botswana. Whether you are a beginner looking for a 15km pre-walk or an adventurer ready for the 100km Makgadikgadi Challenge, your participation is the driving force behind our mission. Every kilometer you cover directly funds critical health and education projects that provide a lifeline to our local communities.
By participating in our calendar of events, you are not just walking for fitness; you are walking for change. From the salt pans of Sowa to the hills of Otse, our walks bring together people from all walks of life to tackle Botswana’s most pressing challenges. Since our inception, these funds have empowered vulnerable groups, supported rural clinics, and provided essential school supplies to children in need.
Our walks are more than just a fundraising event—they are a celebration of Botho and national unity. When you register, you join a supportive network of walkers, volunteers, and sponsors dedicated to leaving a lasting legacy. Take your first step today by selecting an event from our 2026 calendar and help us walk toward a brighter, healthier Botswana.
